About
Tanner’s Hands

Meet Tanner

Tanner, born on February 23, 2005, brought immense joy to all of our lives from the moment he arrived. Despite facing Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and cancer, Tanner’s spirit remained unbroken. Described as a gentle soul, Tanner radiated kindness and positivity. He never allowed his illnesses to define him or his happiness. He was compassionate and empathetic, always seeking to uplift those around him. His love for others was boundless, and he went out of his way to bring happiness to those in need. Tanner’s sense of humor was infectious, and his wit was sharp. He had a unique talent for quoting his favorite TV show, Friends, and his favorite movies, bringing laughter to those around him. He was a true ladies’ man, in his own words, a man who treats ladies nicely. Despite his own challenges, Tanner was always looking out for others. He traveled regularly to advance the care and treatment for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, always putting his brothers’ needs before his own. This is the mission that we are all carrying on. Tanner’s mission. In many ways, Tanner enabled a brighter future for all of us. His legacy lives on through our work, through his mission.

We are doing
the right thing,
at the right time

Like the world-changers who support our organization, we are focused on making a long-term impact by helping kids living in poverty. We have a bold vision: graduating healthy, educated, empowered and employed young adults from our program.

The students supported by our programs face major barriers to accessing education; many are orphaned, living in extreme poverty or dealing with other difficult family circumstances.
